So there was me, right, six months ago, whining like a beaten donkey about having to produce something on this blog, like anyone gave a damn, with some kind of idiotic point to prove to myself, to anyone else, to whoever. Usually – and mostly for the best – none of that sort of ranting goes anywhere, it just dissipates into the atmosphere, harmlessly.
Upsettingly, for me at any rate, I seem to have taken Hemmingway’s advice (again) and followed through on a drunken promise of action, teaching myself a lesson in the process.
This then, for good or ill, is the result, a shiny (but poorly) redesigned site, designed to do only two things – to deliver monthly big features on local bands I like, and to (very) infrequently provide some digital release of steam, somewhere I can occasionally vent into the binary ether. I expect only a few to care about the former, and no-one at all to care about the latter.
But, here we are, and the first of the monthly features is done, completed, published. I’m afraid I took the easy path and asked the very lovely Come On Gang! to be the guinea pigs, just as we did for Off The Beaten Tracks a while back.
I feel a bit bad about that, if only because they keep agreeing, and they inevitably end up with a bit of a rush-job, a first stab, a draft. Still, at least this time it’s relevant, what with the upcoming single, Edinburgh live fandango this week, and UK tour etc. I can at least claim timeliness, if not professionalism or talent of any kind, which is also why I should probably take a second to point out that anything in there that might make you think they are anything less than a cracking band is entirely my fault, not theirs.
So – I’m back, and even though you heartless bastards still see fit to ignore me utterly, I’m pretty glad about that. It’s good for the soul to be able to spend some time, with no other reason than the pure joy of it, shouting loudly about things that make you happy to others.
I hope you get a kick out of it too.
