SpectralsCor, these don’t along very often. What a blimming little cracker this is, all lo-fi Wall Of Noise and stuff. Fucking fantastic.

What I like best about this is that it’s self-produced, so what you’re getting is direct from the Spectrals brain, unfiltered by – say – a label’s commercial agenda. What you get is a  supremely inventive noise, that’s both startlingly new and comfortingly old-fashioned at the same time. It’s Glasvegas without the hi-fi production and it’s a thousand times better for it. Hooks are casually and fuzzily dropped around like loose change,  the guitars sound like they could surf to New Zealand (and were recorded down a phone line from there, to boot), and it’s so drenched in reverb that it rattles around like a pea in a can. Knockout.
